The essentials of a good beauty routine

Beauty and skincare routine is essential to women’s confidence and positively affects our success as women. Initially I was not quite sure where to begin; which products to use, in what order and how often to use them. A deeper look at the modern day beauty products reveals that the majority of such products are packed with harmful and toxic chemicals.

For such a basic necessity, it can certainly be overwhelming. I have taken the time and did my due diligence in studying the makeup products as well as trial and error in order to find the best results for my skin; where I have established a daily routine to keep my skin healthy and brilliant. I am sure many women want to improve their skin care.

A simple beauty routine is effective, consisting of cleansing and moisturizing as well as maintaining a balanced diet. However, keeping a healthy well balanced diet is for another discussion. My facial skin is a mix where it is slightly oily on the forehead and normal for the rest of my face, therefore I use specific products for each area.

Cleansing is the first and easiest step in the skin care process. I chose a gentle natural cleanser for my skin type; I avoided cleansers that are packed with active ingredients which can strip my skin of its nutrients or react negatively with other products.

Prior to moisturizing my skin I apply organic rose water as a toner and sometimes I apply vitamin C serum. About once or twice a week I use a facial sheet mask or a clay mask in order to keep my skin clean, detoxified and hydrated.

The main goal of a moisturizer is to hydrate and protect the skin. I carefully choose my moisturizer by reading the fine print of its ingredients. I avoid at all costs the moisturizers which contain Paraben and or Carbamide.

The moisturizing lotion should also consist of some sun protection factor (SPF) which I believe would protect my skin from harmful sun rays. Some hydrating lotions do not contain SPF; then I would use an additional product that has a high sun protection factor especially in the warmer season. The best thing you can do for your skin is to be in tune with it. Know your needs, know the three basic elements of a skincare regimen, and select your products accordingly. You’ll look great and feel even better!

  1. Hey! New reader here, love that you’re touching on good beauty routines. My oh my, how important it is for us ladies to maintain our beauty! (Inside and out of course teehee..) With that being said, do you suggest night creams? I’ve read mixed feedback about it, but I think it boils down to the kind of product you are using!

  2. I am definitely part of the women demographic who is obsessed with skin care. I’ve watched too many Korean dramas and I’ve wanted to achieve that glass skin look. Lol. Johana, love your look though! Thanks for sharing your tips on a good beauty routine. Perhaps consider sharing your daily make-up look in the future! And of course recommended products 🙂

  3. SPF is super important to me, I actually found out during the height of the pandemic that putting it on even if you’re just staying indoors is still a good idea! I have been doing that religiously and am continuously happy with the results.

  4. Its so funny but I know some women who sometimes sleep with their make up on because they go home drunk and it gets tiring to wash up and all that. I wouldn’t want to miss out on a day of may skin care routine unless its a life or death situation. Although to each her own of course. Ha!

  5. For such a lovely face I could only assume you put great importance on your skin and health. I am a bit older now but I love reading up on beauty and wellness. Oh gosh don’t ask my age, all I can say is I’ve got years of wisdom on my belt…. Ha ha ha… I am retired now so I hope to read more of your blogs and tips, I am looking forward to it….

  6. Aside from the products we use, I’ve learned to be conscious on the food that I eat! It does affect your beauty and reflects on your health. You know how you just come off fresh from college where you were so used to getting by with noodles and microwaveable food. Whew, I’m just learning to eat healthier now.

  7. Do you have an item in your routine that you have been loyal to all these years? I have not yet found “the one” or holy grail for me just yet. It’s probably because my skin is just so sensitive or I’ve just not been lucky enough to find something one and done.

Hey Johana, I’ve been an avid follower of you on your IG! I actually am still in uni, but I would love to hear about any tips you could share on beauty, wellness, and balancing life overall! I can only imagine how jampacked your schedule usually would be.

  9. Its nice how you’ve been able to maintain a good skin routine all these years! Do you have any products you just love using? Thank you in advance!

At least that is what I thought until I came across WordAi… In case you have never heard of WordAi, it is a lightning fast content rewriter that uses Artificial Intelligence to automatically create unique variations of any piece of content. The best part is, WordAi creates rewrites that both humans and Google love.  I know, that’s a bold claim and I was pretty skeptical myself. So I decided to test their claims with their free trial and can tell you honestly, I opted directly for the yearly subscription after that. I have been using WordAi to fill out my blogs and have already covered the cost of my yearly subscription. Its crazy but Im just scratching the surface of how far I can scale my SEO with WordAi! While I am using WordAi to scale my SEO efforts, you can also use WordAi to diversify your copy or even brainstorm to beat writers block!
